Founded by Mr. Shapurji Sorabji, the Group began its journey in 1922 with the opening of The Grand Hotel, Mumbai. Conceived during an era when Mumbai was emerging as a city of commerce, culture and enterprise, the hotel soon became an integral part of the city's hospitality landscape.
Today, The Grand Hotel, Mumbai continues to be our flagship property and a cherished part of the city's heritage. Designed by George Wittet, one of Mumbai's most celebrated architects of his time, the hotel shares its architectural lineage with some of the city's most enduring landmarks, including the Gateway of India, the Prince of Wales Museum (now CSMVS), the Institute of Science and Bombay House.
In 1994, the Group extended its hospitality legacy beyond the city with the opening of Valley View Grand Resort, Panhala, in the picturesque hill station of Panhala, Kolhapur. Set atop a mountain at approximately 3,000 feet above sea level, the resort offers a distinctive escape surrounded by nature and tranquillity, with expansive 360° panoramic views of the valley. This exceptional property was developed on the former estate of the legendary Indian filmmaker, producer, and actor V. Shantaram, adding a touch of history and charm to its scenic allure.
Designed as a place to pause, reconnect and unwind, Valley View Grand Resort is an ideal setting for leisure getaways, family holidays, corporate off-sites, celebrations and memorable weddings.
