Back in 1896, the opening of the Suez Canal resulted in much of the country's trade being done through Bombay (Now Mumbai). New docks were built and reclamation took place to form the Ballard Estate.

The commercial complex is one of the few holistically curated parts of an otherwise (beautifully) haphazard and chaotic city. It was a leading business address for many high-profile companies back then. Many structures have made their way into the 21st century depicting the era of the European Renaissance in its architecture and design. This structure still charms us with its beautiful existence and utility.
One Such Structure is the
Grand Hotel
The hotel was designed in the 20th century and attracted the merchants and traders who come to Bombay. Today, while the entire precinct is known for its commercial nature, the Grand Hotel is the only hotel in the precinct. It is beautifully located at the junction for passers-by to admire.
